The Becker legacy began back in 1908 when Frank Becker, Sr., purchased a general store in Fowler. Over the years, the store shifted and evolved, ultimately transforming into a wedding dress haven in 1934 thanks to his wife, Eva. A chance gown purchase in Chicago for her niece sparked a bridal phenomenon; brides flocked from across Michigan, eager to wear the latest styles offered by “the lady with apron and hat.” The demand got more intense, and soon Becker’s Bridal became synonymous with the Michigan bride’s journey to the altar. |
As each Becker generation continued the legacy, the store grew to meet the needs of a changing clientele. In 1975, Frank’s son, Clark, and his wife, Sharon, transformed the store into “Becker’s Bridal & Menswear,” focusing on wedding attire for all. The expansion of Becker’s saw the addition of the Outlet location in Lansing, Michigan, ensuring that every family member could find their perfect attire. By 2012, Becker’s Bridal became known for the famous “Magic Room,” a one-of-a-kind viewing room that has welcomed countless brides for that special “yes” moment, making memories to last a lifetime!

Tragedy struck in 2012 when a fire claimed Becker’s Mother’s Studio across the street. But in true Becker spirit, the space was reborn as The Phoenix Bridal Celebratory Lounge. This Alice-in-Wonderland-inspired lounge is an enchanting space just steps above the main bridal salon, offering brides a unique place to celebrate their fitting with artisan treats, specialty drinks, and desserts. It’s the perfect spot to continue the magical experience that Becker’s is known for, creating an unforgettable day that brides will treasure forever. |
Now in its fifth generation of ownership, Becker’s Bridal remains a family business at heart, guided by Shelley’s daughter Alyssa and her husband Cory.
